I want you to hit everything in sight....?

Post by cowboy rules »

Now we know Cleon tells Rembrandt to 'Hit everything in sight' and that he wants everyone to know the Warriors were ther. But is that not kinda going against the truce? I mean, I know Cleon only says thet Cyrus doesnt want anyone packed or flexing any muscle, but bombing other gangs turf? Is that not kinda provoking them in a way? Your thoughts!?

Well once Cyrus was shot, it was every man for himself and the rules were thrown out the window, the truce was off after Cyrus got shot.

Yeah but Cleon couldnt have known Cyrus was gonan get shot, he wanted him to bomb things on the way there and back, regardless of the truce.

Its a very good question, but i suppose its another one of those that will never be answered.
Personally i don't think it was going against the truce because i dont think cyrus would be that botherd other gang tags. I gangs kicking off at the conclave would be his biggest worry.
But gangs tagging other gangs turf could cause a fight if you know what i mean so realy i don't have a clue. lol :?

Lest keep something in mind, the warriors after all are a gang. You dont expect for a gang to always play by the rules right. And plus, the look on cleons face when he tells rembrandt this is somehow peculiar, like he knows that aint right.

I think he ment everything on the way there i mean like when Rembrandt got the gravestone it was outside the truce so it was ok. I think Cleon just ment i want you to hit everything in sght outside of the truce not inside. When he says i want everyone to know the warriors were there i guesse it means when there leaving the truce.

By the way great topic you made me think.

I always thought that Cleon was referring to tagging Van Courtland Park to let everyone know that the Warriors attended the conclave, and that it would have been ok under the truce sort of a "roll call" type of deal. Which was maybe why Swan made Rembrandt tag the gravestone at the last second before they headed for the subway.

Even so, the park was probably on someone's turf, because turf wouldn't stay neutral for long before someone claimed it. It belonged to some gang who agreed to host the conclave. It isn't specified in the movie whose turf it is - maybe the Riffs held turf in more than one area (besides Gramercy).

You both raise a good point and in one topic in this forum it says who the gang is but i will have to find it.

Tagging within the park would contradict the whole idea Cyrus was trying to convey: ONE GANG could run the city. Of course, Cyrus could have allowed ALL the gangs to "sign in" by throwing up a tag in the park. It would have made the park like a guest book.?

Well since the meeting takes place in Van Cortland, I guess we could assume it was VC Rangers turf unless some other gang happened to bop 'em out for it. I guess in the movie they do only refer to it as The Bronx, but in the interviews on the UDC, I don't remember anybody refering to it as anything other than Van Cortland park, production or story-wise.

IMO, on the getting up thing though, I think on Cleon's part it was a strategic way to "flex" on a mental level. In the beggining of cyrus's speech, and when Cleon is giving the briefing (in the theatrical release), it doesn't really look like he is taking the conclave seriously or really even wants to go, so he could've just seen it as the perfect oppurtunity to get the Warriors name up in other parts of the city without stirring up to much trouble.

Plus the way Masai says "Who...are the Warriors" always seemed sarcastic to me, in a way that suggested the warriors had some rep in the city, but not enough to be taken very seriously before the conclave, which could've been all the more reason to get their name up. And I agree that the conclave site could've been a guest book for the invited gangs' writers, but none of the others there besides Rembrandt looked like they brought any paint or any other graf tools. I guess they could've just had stickers or markers though.

and I'm not from New York or anything, so I don't know if the train ride from Coney up to the Bronx would've been a straight shot, but if it wasn't Cleon could've had Rem. throw up some pieces on the sneak to kill time I guess.

what i dont understand is after the graveyard scene rem doesnt throw anymore tags up. It seems as if Swan just did it to keep Cleons rule going but after that he doesnt do anything else with the paint except spray the Punk leader in the eyes. If i was rem i would tag the subway on the way over. Maybe thats what he meant. Just tag the subway systems or sumthin.

I go along with the theory that Cleon did?nt want to cause any beefs with anyone else. If we assume that The Warriors are a "minor majorgang" since they were invited to the conclave and if they could?nt show off by flexing any muscles I think to mark the subways or graveyards would be a great way to show everyone that you actually were there....
But this is a graveyard...

Yeah , really, eh. Rem only tags one spot in the entire film! And he does a lil Half-butt "W"! Any Warrior could do that but I suppose they were in a hurry so I'd do the tag pretty quick as well.

True he only hits one spot, but I was talking about what I think Cleon WANTED Rembrandt to do. Not what he actually did :)

I agree with you, I look at Rembrandt as the true artist he is and not as the movie is scripted, believe me if he was not a good artist he would not have gone to the conclave at all.

Yeah, I think that Cyrus was more concerned about a gang trying to cause violence among the others than over burners on other gangs turfs.
