Re: Warriors Conclave '09
maybe we could rent out the rotunda (which is now the Boat Basin Cafe) that was used for the filiming of Cyrus's meeting.
then we organize one big costume/social party at the conclave site! that would be kickass

Re: Warriors Conclave '09
the conclave should obviously be started at the park then either a walking or tour-bus tour of the route taken, with ofcourse the final step at coney island for a stay at coney park and end the day at the beach spot where luther showed up. and try to get the 8 surviving warriors together, other characters will come along too.
Re: Warriors Conclave '09
if the warriors conclave '09 does happen i DEFINIALTY want to go. these are all great ideas that are posted and i'll be excited just to be apart of this and see other warriors fans

Re: Warriors Conclave '09
This whole conclave sounds a good idea and unless i have a drastic change in curcumstance, then im up for it. I know three years seems quite a long way off but weve got to start looking into this more realisticaly; take the first steps so to speak. A starting point would be to decide the month we would hold it in. I personally think May is a good choice. Mainly because coney is up and running by then and travel companies over here in the uk increase thier prices from june to sep. If some of us are opting for something like a five day package with a travel agency, they more often than not try and accommodate you around the times square area to keep you near the tourist hot-spots. Theres gonna be a few of us being a little wary traveling a thousand miles and arriving in what will seem at first a strange environment. I know some members are getting excited and want to recreate the whole warriors experience; rather than someone suggested, meeting in a park "way up in the bronx", maybe something a little more closer to where everyone is staying? I'd opt for meeting at the big C.I itself. It'll be a little easier for us dis-orientated tourists to find and after wathing the movie so many times, the place may seem a little familiar.
Ive not got the best payed job in the world, so im on a limited budget. Ive started looking into what im going to need to get over there. Firstly theres a new passport £58. Visitors visa around £60. Depending on wether i opt for a package or take my chances and backpack it, public transport to get to an airport. Package tours usually opt for either Heathrow or gatwick. Thats ok if you live near london. For me its a £200 taxi run. Coach to manchester is only around £25 and flight from there around £400.
Ive been told its more economical staying in new jersey. If anyone can suggest a decent hotel/motel not far from newark airport, then that would be appreciated. Let me know how many dollars a night they charge. We could maybe have a thread dedicated to acommodation to make it easier for the members here.
To end on a lighter note; how freaked out do you think airport security will be when they see a large group of people arriving and hanging around wearing warriors colours?
Be looking good boppers.

Re: Warriors Conclave '09
Just scrolling through the old topics and came across this one. Thought I should bring it back to the top. Growing up in New York, close to many of the sights in the movie, I had many opportunities to visit but never did. Now that I live down south, and have been reacquainted with an old favorite, I question myself as to why I didn't. I'd welcome the chance to attend an event like this.
"I want them alive if possible, if not - wasted. But I want them."
Re: Warriors Conclave '09
I understand what you are saying. You see, I live 2 stops away from Coney Island, and have lived in New York all my life. Sometimes you do not have the sense of appreciation for certain land marks that you grew up with, until they are all gone. I never gave much thought to places like Coney Island, which was a tourist site that has gone through the abyss of so much history, and that goes for all landmarks that have gone through the fruits of life. Its up to us to preserve them, and keep there essence going. I was having a discussion with my brother, on why is that something that looks like a complete dump have so much significance. Like I said its the history its gone through. Like the movie French Connection. The famous chase scene passes my High School, that opened up in 1969. The School is called John Dewey, and is the school of Coney Island in case people want to know. So I guess its that sense of being in the jungle(city), and getting into adventures and dealing with obstacles, that make these land marks so special.(Like the movie Rent). Someone else's trash is someone else's treassure. We are all misfits in a world of obstacles that makes us proud of these environments. We all have loyalty and honor, in these things, which is why we are going to the conclave. Its an expierence of a lifetime.

*Hands in the air*
there's nothing that is going to stop me from going to the Conclave 2009...rain or shine...day or night...i'm there...and if you guys need help setting it up i'll be able to help...i really wouldn't miss this...I can sense that there's going to be far more people for this event compared to the number of people who showed up to the Scavenger hunt/Screening back in August...no one who is a Warrior fan should miss it...unless there's a very excused reason to miss it...sick...live far away...work...etc.
3 years is good enough to plan something that big as the Conclave 2009...brainstorming on ideas for it and anything that needs to be done...if anything the event could consist of going to the places where they filmed...preferably taking the subway...and finally ending the day at Coney with trivia and/or meet and greet...of course a screening...and most definitely have the cast show up!
