Robert De Niro would have suck if he was in The Warriors. He doesnt look very street does he. He plays Mafia gang member or bosses and when think of them you dont think of street you think money, family and protection. And when you think of the warriors you think street, dark, and a struggle it was good as it was not having a well known actor was the right choice

i actually liked mckitterick's performance alot :D, i wouldnt like de niro if he was cowboy. just imagine him yelling madly "HEY SO WAS WE!!!!!"  and laughing creepily. it just doesnt fit.
love rhymes with hideous car wreck

I think if we try and imagine DeNiro playing this part it would be hard because the movie and it's actors are definitely legendary in their own right so it would be hard to put anyone else in any of those roles. I really liked Cowboy the way he was though because it just seemed that each character fit the look and personality of what the characters were supposed to be. Its still kinda cool to see how things worked out and got a chance to see actors we may not have had a privilege of ever hearing about if it wasn't for this movie. I just hope they're all proud to have been in it even if some may not have been in anything as big since. :o

Robert De Niro is not warrior material.
but if de niro had been cowboy you would probably think mckitterick was a bad choise.
but lucky as we are he said no! :)

i think you guys are doing a few things wrong

your

a. thinking of robert D for just mafia Stuff

b. forgeting how young he was when warriors was and how he would have fit it

c.you just like who plays cowboy instead of who could have...if it would have been robert instead you would praise him like a god, come on...get off it

he's always been fit for the stereotypical "gangster" role, the warriors are colourfully dressed new york gang members, i don't think he fits in with that crowd.
sorry to any de niro fans, but he don't look and sound like a cowboy to me.

I agree that Deniro would have been warchief after Cleon got killed. Could you imagine the scene with the Orphans if that happened?

Orphan: "You come armying down here, no permits, no parlay?"
Deniro: "You talkin to me?" "You talkin to me?" "I'm the only one here."

Couldnt resist that one.
