why did luther choose the warriors
he blamed the Warriors because right after he shoots Cyrus he turns around and fox is looking directly at him.

I have to disagree, ohs. He sees Fox from the front before he is blinded. There is nothing on the front of the vests to suggest he is a Warrior. More likely he saw Cleon looking at the just shot Cyrus, saw the back of the vest, and saw his opportunity.

I always felt that there was recognition there---he may not have recognized Fox personally per say, but I think he knew the vests and who they represented, and by knowing this, and knowing that Fox saw him with the gun shoot Cyrus-it was easy to transfer blame onto Cleon when he went where he shouldn't have bothered going in the first place.
I think the Rogues and the Warriors may have had some past prior difficulty, not necessarily personal between the people we see in the movie, but gang to gang. I think he picked up on Cleon all alone, and shifted the blame FIRST before anyone else got chance to question anyone else in the gang and possibly find out the real truth.
IF there was no prior recognition, why would Luther bother saying "these guys the Warriors, yea they deserve it"
Hence, yes he was looking for someone to blame, but he also wanted The Warriors taken care of, so Fox couldn't tell what he saw to anyone.
That may also be why Luther says "The Riffs want them alive but we don't."
he was afraid that Fox could have or did tell what he saw, and that tells me he recognized what gang Fox was with. Otherwise, it wouldn't matter if the Riffs caught them or not--cause if he didn't know Fox was a Warrrior--he wouldn't be worried about what any of the Warriors might tell anyone.
The Warrior(Fox) was a threat to the Rogues because of what he saw, and Luther got them all blamed so hopefully they would all get killed before they told anyone the truth. Luther KNEW!!

I've always thought that to Ranchgal, Luther saw a chance to kill two birds with one stone and get the heat off of him and get rid of a rival gang and a witness at the same time. At the end when Swan is talking to Luther it seems to me like they've talked to each other before.

Yeah, even from the front, the Warriors are distinct. I always thought... WHY did the Rogues hang around in the middle of all of that? Everybody else, beside the Riffs, are hysterically fleeing to anywhere away from the cops. The Rogues are cool as cucumbers.(my Luther/cops conspiracy theory) Luther was crazy, but he was savvy. He knew a Warrior saw him and Cleon's gesture of respect was the perfect oppurtunity to get rid of his problem. Finally, I too, always thought that the Warriors and the Rogues had an unfriendly history.

I agree, i think there was a hint of recognision between the fox and luther, maybe the fox was in the rogues? or something, in the game, everyone of the warriors were in diffrent gangs and was either in a dispute or wanted revenge.

The brown vest is very distinctive. He knew it was a Warrior. And Cleon appearing by Cyrus was the perfect opportunity to blame them.
My question about that scene is that it would seem everyone around Luther would have heard the shot and automatically looked. The Warriors were all on the other side of the arena on the second floor. Luther's crazy, but why would he take a risk like that, shooting Cyrus with all the Riffs right next to him.

i disagree i dont think he knew the vests at all i think that he saw cleon jump the fence saw him lookin at the body and next thing he's blamin them it was a simple wrong place wrong time sorta thing and if u notice it takes him a few seconds to read the back patch with warriors on cos he stutters at saying it.

So how do you dismiss Luther trying to shoot Fox, till the spotlight hit him--Luther wouldn't miss a detail of who may have been a threat to him.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree!
I think he was aiming at Fox because he saw him as a witness. I saw no recognision between them. Fox looked to be in shock. I agree the vests are distinctive but Luther had about 2 seconds to note details before the light came on. And I agree Warrior_Chris. At least a couple of people would have seen Luther shoot Cyrus or then aim at Fox.

who is luther talking to on the phoone when he says,"yeah they deserved it"
He did it because that ts jsust what he does, I mean he tells Swan at the end that it was just what he does.

I think the real question should be..
Why did Cleon go over to where Cyrus' body was?
If he hadn't have gone over there for whatever reason, and ran away like everyone else The Warriors would have never gotten blamed for Cyrus' death.

Luther blamed the warriors because when he shot them, he turned around to see The Fox had seen everything. And Luther kind of did have a way of telling it was The warriors. How many gangs have a vest of that exact colour? Or maybe he seen the fox with all the other warriors.
I think we have to look at the point that some plots of movies back 20 years ago weren't as detailed as today's movies too.
