USA Region 1 DVD Released today - Post Comments here!

I have the same comments as most of you guys I guess....

I HATE the fact that when I put the DVD in, I have to FF past the stupid commercials...It should go right to the Main Menu. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't jump right to the menu.

The Greek intro is ok, but not neccesary.... I do like the "creepiness" of the Wonder Wheel intro as someone else said.

There are some scenes that seem alot longer to me....The "Nowhere to Run" sequence seems longer, and some others...

I kind of like the comic book transistions for the most part....Except the last one....I can't believe they cut the last scene like that.....That is a classic scene of just walking down the beach to nowhere, as I used to do after running a few miles every morning in college on the beach in Long Branch, NJ......It doesn't look right at all now....

In either case, it's my favorite movie of all time, so what ever gets put out, I'm buying no matter what. They should have had the "original" version on the disc as well, like Pink Floyd "Pompeii".

The featurettes are worth the $13 I paid for it....As well as the excitement of going to buy a movie for the 3rd time that has meant so much to me since I first saw it years ago.

Anybody who I "introduce" to this movie is going to see the original version though.....

And why is my avatar showing "2nd in Command" underneath? I'm not in the network, but I rumble anyway...

Good question, and good use of a quote! :) I hope you don't get wasted, 'cause that was a quality post.

Brother first off, anyone reading this, check out his Warriors remix it's tight..
I love the way you broke it all down!!!!
This was the part that nailed the coffin tight!!
MESTIZO69
I'm talkin about the same principle here..

You know what, here's an example of when i look at things differently. Look at the beauty..the depth..the detail..the soul..that was put into Rockstar's Warriors game website..Unbelievable!..I can ''FEEL'' everything about The Warriors when i visit that site..It makes it look so juicy,fun,adventurous..even for someone who's never seen the film..I can't wait til it comes out..

The "Ultimate"DVD edition website however,(with exception of the cool subway car, with doors that don't seem to open)is just dull..Made in a hurry..by someone who's probably not even seen the film..The wallpapers suck hard!!..Buddy Icons could be animated but aren't..Plain and simple,it just looks like a bunch of corporate, suit & tie, cookie cutter minded, emotionless robots made that site..

So what am i saying..?..That by Walter Hill or whoever at Paramount was in charge of marketing this "New" version,it also "REFLECTS" on the impression we have of "their" judgement and the final vibe we get from the "Ultimate" film when it's in our hands..EG: BAD DVD COVER,POORLY CHOSEN BONUS FEATURES,NO COMMENTARY,NO EXTRA TRAILERS,NOT ENOUGH ORIGINAL CAST IN FEATURETTES..THEY COULD'VE TRACKED DOWN THE OTHERS OR AT LEAST MENTIONED THEM..VERMIN?..SNOW?..COWBOY?..
ROCKSTAR: THEIR WEBSITE AND HISTORY EXPLAINS ITSELF..PARAMOUNT SHOULD'VE LET ROCKSTAR DO THEIR MARKETING AND MAYBE EVEN DECISIONS ON THE EXTRAS..SO FORTH, IN THE "ULTIMATE" DVD..
I could not have said it any better, and I hope that they are reading this!!!
I hate that there was no effort in making this DVD what it should have been
Fellow Forum Member CLEON has a better idea of what I want to see!! and "YES" I want one too.. Put time into it,give me something that makes me hyped up about the experiance again!!
Like I said They should have put the original Coverart insead of some cheap, throwup,
At least the Rockstar website stay true to That Warriors Vision, even the subway map on the website is cool, you can click it and it scrolls back and fourth ;) Great review MESTIZO!!!!

Yep, if they had included both versions on this dvd, even making it a 2 disc set, I'm sure everyone would've been happier. Also, Hill should have gotten a real actor to do the voice-over. How about Remar? Or the guy who played Cyrus? Or even Michael Beck? But him...?
The cartoon train pulling in at the end is kinda goofy but I popped back in my old copy and there is some jumpy print weirdness and very inconsistant color so maybe the original footage was in bad shape?
They did do alot of work though cleaning up the print and making the shots look better. Watch the Riffs/Rogues confrontation scene on the original dvd and the color is VERY unstable and none of the shots match. Hill even mentions this in the documentary. So cleaning that up and balacncing the shots color-wise plus the new audio mix and the slow zooms etc. this definitely did take some time. This was not rushed at all. The film looks and sounds awesome. Better than I thought it ever could. I did think the documentary was pretty good. Too bad about the deleted scenes but maybe there is a reason Hill didn't want them on the disc, I dunno.
Definitely keep the original and you have a pretty good 2 disc set.
The annoying trailers thing in the beginning is more and more common nowadays. Big corporate business. Hit the chapter skip button.

All in all, I'm happy. Wish we had more of course but the price I paid was fair considering I bought the original dvd for $29.99 when it came out!

I just picked up a copy at Best Buy, only $12.99! They must know how crappy it is already :( Havent watched yet, but I will tonight or tomorrow, contemplating watching The Outsiders special edition instead which I also bought today ($22.99). Well worth the price though, it has everything you could want in extra content (commentaries by the actors and director, deleted scenes, 22 minutes of additional footage, making of documentary, screen tests and auditions, etc..).

Ohs, there are ALOT of pissed off people who got the new "Outsiders" dvd as most of the music has been taken out and replaced with Elvis songs. It worked ok for me but alot of the purists are pissed off.

By this same principle, I really dislike the main menu on the new DVD. The techno-type music & super fast cuts of video don't match the feel of the movie AT ALL. It's almost like the people who made the menu didn't watch the film, and just scanned through it for a bunch of action scenes to pull for the menu, and then used that techno music 'cause, "well, that's just how we make menus today."
Man..thanks for relating with me off the top..That's so funny, i was totally gonna mention the music on the dvd menu..I think it's a cross between a big generic hollywood action movie score(you know like Schwarzenegger)with a breakbeat thrown over the top..WTF!!?..Are they on GLUE again?..Is it that hard to take the main Warriors theme or the Baseball Furies Chase theme(which is what The Warriors is all centered around)and throw into the dvd menu score?..Nuff Said, :x

I thought it was pretty good. Check out my thread Outsiders "Remake" in the off topic section. :)

well I threw the dvd in just to see what the opening greek sequence was all about and ended up watching the whole thing. Some of the comic book sequences were so-so and then theirs a couple that were really bad. The baseball furies one didnt look right at all. I mean "holy shit...the baseball furies" was way to corny for me. Its pretty much implied that the Warriors are thinking "holy shit", it doesnt have to be said. Also, saying "its the baseball furies" takes the mystery away, its so much better seeing them and thinking "omg who are these dudes?".

The other comic sequence that really put the nail in the coffin for me is the ending on the beach. I already knew it was gonna be bad from reading a previous post about this sequence, but its absolutely rediculous. You get to see them walk down the beach for like 5 seconds and thats it...The one thing that I really loved about that ending was watching them walk away while "in the city" plays and thinking about what all had happened to them and imagine whats going to happen to them in the future, but now its just a 5 second walk... the end... quickly take the disc out of the dvd player and fling it against the wall. I havent watched the featurettes yet I think I will save those for later.

Welp I just watched the featurettes and I must say they were rather enjoyable. Awesome to hear the actors talk about the movie as if they had just filmed it not to long ago. I swear James Remar could easily slap a Warriors vest on and do the whole film again with no problem. David Harris seems like a really funny guy, he made me laugh everytime he talked. If you buy this dvd definetly buy it for the featurettes.

I already have the original DVD, so i hope my mom doesnt think it's stupid to buy the directors cut too.. but hey, anyone else see the commercial? In the commercial after Luther does the whole " The warriors did it! The warriors did it!" and tries to tackel cleon, in the preview he actually tackled him. Is this a deleted scene? or do i just not remember the scene too well?

The comic book stuff did not bother me as much as I thought it would.
I relate to it like a big story board.
BUT truth---I am going to end up watching this over and over and over again--NOT the movie--just the featurettes. They made this special to me and I learned a lot. True--I am sort of over the top about MB, but I really enjoyed James, and all the featurettes aspects. I loved listening to the tech guy and the cut guy and Debra too---That made the disk worth the money.

Yea, I will probably take another look or two at the movie, but mostly I will watch my old version of that---and use this one for the features.

I wish I had the equipment and knew how to screen cap---I would be doing nothing else for a LONG time!!! Loved seeing all those shots, at least now we know where all the new picts came from.

Actually they're all impersonators. In fact, they're clowns wearing people makeup.
