Cutting The Story Short - Train Station Fire

Post by Danzel »

Someone please help my troubled mind haha, I

There were some prvious posts around this topic but not on it exactly by what I could find.

If a gang, I dont think were told which one in the movie, went to the bother of starting the first, Even though we can be certain it wasnt The Orphans because the didnt know about the big meeting, or even what The Warriors had supposedly done, but it was their territory closest, why didnt that/those same gang/s just all be around that Train station, or even on the platform waiting for them?

It doesnt seem very logical to cause the train to stop then let the Warriors have a chane to get away? Or was it just a way to inconvinience them and make the thrill of the hunt continue?

Good Point Gezza, but you can see when they get there that anyone could of easily waited on the platform? and maybe not like the Riffs or someone but it would of made a pretty cool fight near fire and stuff :D

Yeah it would of been good to see an extra fight at the train station and one of the warriors could throw their enemys in the fire!! :twisted:instead of them just walking out of there and no other gangs etc... in sight.

The reason why the gang that started the fire wasn't arround the train station is a huge number of the police in the city that night. There was probably even more police on that station because of the fire.IMO,that gang started the fire to slow down the Warriors, and then waited for the right moment to attack them. :D

In the extras on the ultimate DVD I think it is Walter Hill that said they had to find a way to stop the train and asked the authorities what would cause it to stop, and was told a fire would definitely stop the train therefore that's what was used. Also who said the fire was arson? All that is said in the film is by Vermin who i think says "maybe we should worry about who set the fire" he himself doesn't know what caused the fire but is just considering the worst seeing what has happened already that night. The fire could well have been electrical or a discarded cigarette(just look at kings cross station a few years ago). In the book the train was also stopped but then it was for track repairs so no gang involvement there. therefore i can only conclude that it was just a way to get them off the train so as they could run into other gangs if they didn't it would have just been a nice little train journey back to coney with maybe some hassle when they changed lines.
Stay Lucky, Peace Out.

Actually Uncle Swan makes a good point.  For all we know maybe it was just fate that sent that fire.  I know it sonds like to much of a coinscedence, but who knows these thecnical things do happen.  It was probably the warriors destiny for this to happen.  Just recently I and some of my friends went to a show in Manhattan.  We onlt made about 4 stops until the train stoped, because it had technical difficultis.  So while we are sitting there realizing this train is going no where, my friend realizes tat he forgot the tickets.  So in our opinion, maybe the train was meant to stop, so we can go back and get the tickets, becuae its not like we made it far inro Manhattan, and had to go all the way back to Brooklyn.  We were still in Brooklyn, and only a few stops away to go and get the tickets that he forgot.  So my point is, pehaps it may have been a technical difficulty, that was mixed with devine intervation.  Basically things happen for a reason, and it happened to the wariors.

Ye adam88, I understand what you mean... but I don't think it was a techincal difficulty. Well I agree with Gezza, it's a movie and that was simply the shortest way 4 stopping The Warriors.
Anyway if were the Riffs or someone else to set the fire, and then they didn't wait 4 them 1 or 2 blocks forward(where there wasn't the police), it's a strange choice? Yes I say ye, it's just a movie oddity!!! 8)

1. Good question!! ;) :o :D

2. The "gang" that started it perhaps did wait, but when the fire-fighters and the cops showed up they just left.

3. I like Scurvs explantion on the Orphans.  This is a possibility.

i like that, since the cops was after every gang why would the gang that set the fire stick around they would just get busted or at risk if being busted, good point

well TheSwan, It was more of a suggestion on the example of "destiny", and "fate" rather than a final answer.  I always believed someone did set the fire, but my answer on technical difficulties, was one of an alternate way of looking at the picture, thats it.
