Subway Gang

Post by The Furies' »

In the beginning of the movie, when they are introducing all the gangs. Did anyone find it funny that one group actually paid to get through the gates onto the train? The leader got chance and was putting money in the machine to let his soldiers though. I mean if they're suppose to be thugs, why would they pay. I thought it was kinda funny. :P

I had mentioned that in another post before. I think it's pretty funny. He probley did it so the cops wouldn't be on them. Cleon did tell Vermin to carry the tokens and the bread.
We're going in there like everybody else nine guys no weapons

Of course that was while the truce was on and the gangs were not packing so there was no need to draw the heat by jumping the turnstile and missing the "big meeting".

Everyone was playing it cool while the truce and the meeting were on. No need to draw the ire of the cops.

Cyrus probably told everyone to pay and keep it cool coming to the meeting. Maybe he even told all the gangs they needed to have a bearer for the group and that they all need to come by the subway.

Exactly, everything had to be done in an orderly fashioned, and in a cool, calm, collective way.  I mean I am sure not all gangs are complete anarchist type of beasts.  I am sure if they have to be civial, for a worthy a probable cause, it will be done.  Some gangs out there crave to be like ordinary citizens.  If you can manage to get money and pay for something to get the job done, and avoid trouble, why not?  Its like why Ismael said in the book,"its as close as your gonna get", because some want a life thats just simple.  Law breaking comes only when its most necessary, well to some not all. There are those who want to avoid it, and some who could careless.

Well the gangs were all wanting to get to the meeting and didn't want anything to jeprodise that also the fact that they weren't packing and there were only groups of nine so gangs didn't want the fuzz on them and if any gangs were causing trouble that means they would of sent out the heat looking for gang members which would jeprodise the meeting.

im guessing it would be different nowadays, but i think maybe cyrus did give tokens to the gangs that had little income, but i think they all paid to get to the conlave unless their turf was near the conclave, was obvious if they are all going by train the cops would catch on to what they are doing

Who knows, maybe the subway gang did pay for their journeys all the time, trying to act(in some cases) as a model citizens.I guess there are(were) some gangs that tried to gain the respect of a local population by behaving nice, etc. For example,it is well known nowadays that some of the toughest football hooligans in Europe are doctors, lawyers, businessmen ,etc. They really are ordinary citizens all the time, except on a match-day! :D
