Re: YOU SEE WHAT YOU GET!!

Hey kowolski---welcome aboard. I saw the film several times in NY, and not once did I encounter any gang violence.  I believe the couple of incidents I heard of around here were minimal---I actually encountered more fighting trying to get in during FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 4 around 1984, as the lines we...

Re: Were the Warriors a real gang? Sorry if its dumb to ask

The gang is fictional, and the gang in the novel was also a fictional all-black gang, and the story takes place on July 4th (it was symbolic of black freedom / independence).  This was a missing element in the film version that the author hated, although he understood it would have been hard to sell...

Re: Authenticity.

I work with a guy whose friend played one of the Turnbull ACs.  He told him that real gangs used to show up at the sets complaining the film was making them look silly and that they took it as a sign of disrespect.  And being a New Yorker, MOST of the gangs in THE WARRIORS are VERY unrealistic.  Tru...

Re: Movie Prequel

Over the years I've thought about sequels and prequels, and came to the conclusion that THE WARRIORS is better off standing alone.  If you want more, I'd suggest reading Sol Yurick's 1965 novel (that's been re-released a few years ago) as it gives a little bit different take on the story than the fi...

Re: Ever Used Any Warriors Lines In Real Life?

I've been quoting "For What?" since 1979!  That line comes in VERY handy when people keep bothering you to do somehting and you're just trying to vegetate (although I wouldn't use it for a boss or wife)!

Re: IS THE GAME LIKE THE MOVIE

The gang's attitudes and actions in the game are closer to Sol Yurick's 1965 novel than the film; if you haven't read the novel, The Warriors were much more brutal on the printed page than on film, and the muggings and such in the game reminded me of that.

Re: An introduction..

I did an introduction several months ago, but I as STUPID enough to not follow the New Blood rules, and I posted my 3rd post out of the New Blood area. Well, I'm back, and here to play by the rules.  THE WARRIORS has been my A#1 favorite film since I first saw it on WHT back in 1980.  I watch it at ...

Re: Who is against the 2008 remake?

I hate 99% of remakes.  But look at it this way: The X-MEN in the film wore black leather outfits, as no one today would seriously believe Wolverine running around in a yellow spandex costume (from the original comics).  This remake is just a modernization---and I have a feeling it will be more like...

Something tells me Ajax would've got away from the cops once things calmed down!

Re: Ajax

Almost every family has an Ajax . . . but few get to hang out with SNOW and COCHISE!  This is my family at the October, 2006 CHILLER THEATRE convention.  We also got to meet Swan, Mercy, Cyrus, Vermin, Cleon, and the dude who played the 2nd-hand man with the 'fro for THE ORPHANS.  Everyone was extre...

New Blood here...

...and Swan 1979 already straightened me out about the new posts being in this section---please forgive my laziness in overlooking this first step here. I've been a WARRIORS fan since 1980, when I watched it on WHT (anyone remember that) for the first time.  I have since seen it over 50 times, inclu...
