FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

I have had many e-mails about various topics related to The Warriors. Here are some of the aptly named "frequently asked questions" (with their answers!). The forum is also a great place to search for answers to your questions.

Q. Why is The Warriors' winged skull logo different in the game and on the action figures?
A. The winged skull was replaced with a flaming skull due to legal reasons. These reasons being that the logo is too similar to the Hells Angels logo. This is also the reason why the vests and patches are currently not available (see more at the bottom of this FAQ).

Q. Why did Thomas G Waites (The Fox) walk out of the movie?
A. Thomas G Waites (The Fox) and Walter Hill didn't always see eye to eye. This was because The Fox was supposed to get with Mercy (Deborah Van Valkenburgh) in the film but Swan (Michael Beck) had better on screen chemistry with Mercy.

Q. What does Swan do with his knife after he takes it from Luther's arm?
A. He is cleaning it in Luther's hair to remove the blood. Some people believe he is scalping Luther but if you look closely he is only cleaning the blade.

Q. What is the name of the song with lyrics "Im a fugitive out on the move, ready for action I've got something to prove"?
A. That song is found in rare versions of the film in place of "Nowhere To Run" and many die hard fans even say it is much better! It is apparently a great song but unfortunately nobody knows who the artist is.

Q. Which gangs are real in the film?
A. The Homicides were the real gang who's turf was the same as The Warriors. I think there's more information in the forum somewhere.

Q. Who did the artwork used on the front cover of the VHS / DVD / Game and poster?
A. At this point in time I do not know!

Q. Who is Luther talking to on the phone?
A. David Patrick Kelly who played Luther has said that "Walter and I didn't talk too much about who Luther was speaking to on the phone . I think he only said "the Boss". I made up a character as "the Boss" who combined political corruption with gangsterism, someone Luther knew from a young age, a kind of mentor who Luther was anxious to please, a kind of Fagin/Boss Tweed."

Q. Where can I get a copy of The Warriors with the deleted scenes?
A. The only way you can get the deleted scenes is to get hold of certain TV version of the movie (some play the movie with them and some without). You can also download the deleted scenes here .

Q. When is the remake of The Warriors being released?
A. It is to be released in 2008 or 2009. Bear in mind that it isn't a remake as the only similarity is the name of the film and the very basic plot. No characters or gangs will be the same. All the current information about the film can be found on the new movie page and in the forum.

Q. What is the name of the music used in the deleted introduction when The Warriors walk along the boardwalk?
A. It is Rumble by Link Wray - see the soundtrack page. It is on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack.

Q. Is there a special edition DVD?
A. The Warriors Ultimate Director's Cut DVD is available and can be ordered here. It features an hour's worth of features with the cast and crew, as well as improved sound and picture quality, as well as the new "cartoon" scenes. This is available on DVD, Blu-Ray and HDDVD. In 2007, Paramount repackaged the original DVD in it's unrestored format with stereo sound and comes with a copy of the original movie poster.

Q. What platforms is The Warriors game released on?
A. The PS2, XBOX and PSP. The XBOX version is currently not backwards compatible on the XBOX 360.

Q. Where can I get hold of a Warriors vest?
A. Mondotees used to provide Warriors vests and patches but were forced to stop production due to legal reasons (i.e. the logo is deemed too similar to the Hell's Angels logo). However, Mondotees are looking to get the vests back on their site in 2008. Visit our store where you will be able to buy replicas of the vest from Mondotees. The furies outfit is still available for purchase from the store.
